People and things do change and at times, communities, tribes and even nations do merge to form a bigger unit.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

More of these might occur in the future, but there are things that will never change, especialy among members of the Luo community.

Here they are:

1.Their love and pride for their homeland

Talk ill about Luo Nyanza and you are very likely to land into a big problem with a Luo, even if he they were just passing by.

They consider the region their home, the place of their origin, and the place where they must fall back to at some point for retirement.

Therefore, whatever happens, their love and admiration for the lakeside region will remain intact, and it will always be the place they will mark mark their end in.

This is as opposed to a few communities in the nation who consider wherever they are as their home.

2. Their language

Luos speak the Luo language which according to them is Dholuo.

Unlike other communities like the Yaaku which has been assimilated into the Maasai and Suba who are now speaking Luo, the community is too big to be assimilated by any other.

Also, Luos have a special love for the language, and despite their superiority in the English language, they have ensured that Luo also remains intact and cannot, therefore, be expected to at some point dessert their language.

Actualy, they are instead slowly eating into Luhya's who have since learnt the Luo language and are now naming their children after Luos.

3. Their readiness to stand with what they believe in

Not once have they been seen engaging the police and any other person for denying them what they think is theirs and preventing them from practicing what they believe in.

They have as well stood with the Oginga political family since independence despite the family's inability to win the presidency all through.

And even when opposition leader Raila Odinga was being bashed recently for allegedly betraying all opposition supporters by reaching a truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta, he still enjoys absolute support among Luos.

This they should not be expected to stop.
