Residents of Geteri in Kisii County on Thursday watched a free wrestling match after two women engaged in a physical fight over a boda boda rider's romantic love.
Witness said the trouble started when Zipporah Kemunto spotted the boda boda rider ferrying Nancy Nyarangi on his motorbike.
"Kemunto is married but, she has been secretly having an affair with the rider Amos Mong'iti. She saw Nyarangi who is also the rider's secret lover on the motorbike and chased after the motorcycle prompting Mr. Mong'iti to stop," said Michael Oroo.
Mr. Oroo argued that Kemunto descended on Nyarangi with kicks and blows before Nyarangi also fought back.
"The fight lasted for 10 minutes before members of the public intervened. Kemunto sustained injuries on her left ear while Nyarangi was injured on her forehead," said Oroo.
A local administrator Benson Okeyo said the boda boda rider sped off from the scene after the women started fighting because of him.
"It is shameful for women to engage in a fight in public just because of a man's love. Kemunto should be satisfied with her husband and leave Mong'iti to love Nyarangi who is not married," said the chief.
He assured that unnecessary fights are not going to be tolerated in his area of jurisdiction.
