Hours before visiting Deputy President William Ruto at Harambee House Annex offices, President Uhuru Kenyatta met ODM leader Raila Odinga at State House, reports the Nation.
On Tuesday, Uhuru was pictured holding talks with his deputy amid simmering wrangles within the Jubilee party with DP Ruto insisting the ongoing fight against corruption is crafted to dwindle his 2022 presidential chances.
According to State House, Uhuru and Ruto's discussions were centered on development even as the Nation revealed on Thursday that unity in Jubilee and Thursday's address to the nation also featured.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, Dr. @WilliamsRuto today shared a working lunch at the DP's Harambee House Annex office during which the two leaders discussed matters related to the Government‘s development agenda," read the statement.
On Wednesday, the Nation learnt that President Kenyatta discussed with Dr Ruto the State of the Nation address before meeting other Jubilee Party leaders and ordered them to ensure unity in the House.
The President also met embattled Malindi ODM MP Aisha Jumwa before heading to Mombasa for a meeting with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
But details of Uhuru's meeting with Raila at State House remain scanty despite multiple sources indicating that the two met before Odinga jetted out of the country for AU duties.
Apparently, the two meetings on Tuesday came a few days after Uhuru fired salvos on his close allies over the fight against graft. In his statement from Namibia, Uhuru said he will not 'spare even his closest political allies', a statement that were linked to Ruto by pundits.
On his part, Ruto has accused Uhuru albeit indirectly of using the fight against corruption for political gains. He has also blamed Raila for wrangles within the Jubilee party, insisting that the ODM leader is out to wretch government agenda.
Mr Odinga's trips to State House are nowdays synonymous with the public ever since he decided to with with the President last year March after divisive elections that precipitated deaths of many people across the country.
