The total orphan from Ikonyero village in Kakamega County is supposed to join the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to take a Diploma course in Laboratory Technology.

However, his ambition remains a dream due to financial constraints.

Speaking to the Standard on Saturday, the 24-year-old said that he has been unable to raise the required tuition fee of Ksh80, 000, forcing him to seek a security guard job.

He added that the case was similar during his days at the Kakamega High School, where school fees problems forced him to work at the school, and was forced to delay picking his papers due to fees arrears.

"I sat for my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams in 2011 and scored a B-plain of 63 points.

I just missed a point to secure a direct university admission. I was unable to pick my KCSE certificate over a balance of Sh63,000,” he said.

He has since secured a job with one of the local private security companies in the nation, but says that the salary ends up in his younger brother's school fees, leaving him with nothing for his education.

“I moved to Lavington Security Company in January 2015 where I was getting Sh6,000. When am paid my salary, I take Sh3000 as school fees for my brother and the balance to cater for food and emergency cases," he added.

He initially worked as a herdsboy before joining another security company which he quit to join the new one.
