The chaos erupted after suspected supporters of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) pelted a convoy of Amani National Congress (ANC) politicians with stones.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi was forced to scamper for safety at Kamukunji grounds where he was to campaign for his party candidate Eliud Owalo, a former aide of ODM boss Raila Odinga.

Wanyonyi of ODM now says that the blame should go to the people who authorised the rally, considering that ODM was having its own rally in Laini Saba, less than a kilometre away.

He says that judging by the heating political temperatures in the constituency, given that the mini poll is slated for November 7, it was unwise to have the ANC rally held close to the ODM one.

"I take issue with the people who give permission to hold rallies. The rallies were hardly a kilometre apart. This is not a good thing in a politically charged area," he said on Citizen TV on Monday morning.

However, Ndaragua lawmaker Jeremiah Kioni observed that the stone-throwers might have felt threatened or jealous of Mudavadi and team.

"People who are stoned have a great future. People do not throw stones at those who not have good things," he said.

Raila later campaigned for his party candidate Imran Okoth in Laini Saba.
