Garissa County Governor Ali Korane has vowed to use all means to end land disputes witnessed in the area.
The land disputes believed to be financed by cartels in the county have seen several lives lost over the last two weeks.
Speaking when he presided Jamhuru Day celebrations at Garissa Primary Playground, Korane registered his disappointment over the increasing cases of land conflicts in the area.
He urged the residents to avoid being used by the cartels as they had their own ill motives that are not beneficial to their community.
"We should divorce this issue from ethnicity since it is personal interest by individuals; when they sell land they pocket money alone; it is not shared communally. The cartels are criminals with no tribe or clan," the county boss said as quoted in the county Facebook page.
The governor further told the residents that his administration will collaborate with the police force to ensure all structures build beyond ring roads with no valid documents are demolished.
On his part, Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane reiterated insisted that the National Government in collaboration with the county will deal with people behind land skirmishes ruthlessly.
The County Commissioner Meru Mwangi who also attended the celebration promised to use all means possible to ensure land disputes are immediately brought to an end in the town.
