In an interview on NTV's Sidebar on Tuesday night, he called for tolerance on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, which has proposed a number of law changes.

He stressed on the need for politicians to accept each other's stand, noting that the critics of the report have been under attack from the report supporters, which should not be the case.

He noted that actually, the business of accepting or rejecting the report should be left to the people, contrary to the current situation where it appears to have been taken over by politicians.

"This should be a people's thing (BBI); let those who support it speak and also those who criticise it speak out. We have reached a point where those who are opposed to it have been labelled rebels," he said.

He also claimed that Kenyans are having it hard adopting the entire BBI issue since it appears like a government-sponsored push which has nothing to do with their interests

"How do people own something that was mid-wifed by the Executive?" he added.

The push is being led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, who also founded the BBI task force after their March 2018 truce.
