Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has said that he still enjoys cordial ties with President Uhuru Kenyatta despite firing him from the post.
Speaking during the burial of the late Joseph Mukwe Mateba at Khaunga, Mumias East Constituency, Echesa appealed to Amani National Congress (ANC) Leader Mudavadi Musalia not to play second fiddle to any candidate in 2022.
He reminded Mudavadi to go for the top seat upon the retirement of President Uhuru Kenyatta. He assured Mudavadi that he will rally the electorate behind.
Echesa alluded that he has so many friends who can make Mudavadi president include President Kenyatta.
“Nimeambia ndugu yangu Musalia. Yeye ndio ndugu yangu mkubwa. Amekuwa mungwana ya kutosha. Kama ni kuunga watu mkono amewaungu ye kutosha. Arudi hapa nyumbani, tujipange nimtafuties marafiki. Mimi nko na marafiki wa kutosha. Mheshimiwa Uhuru Kenyatta ni rafiki yangu hata kama alinifuta kazi bila makossa bado ni rafiki yangu,” he said.
(I have told my brother Musalia. He is my elder brother. He has been a gentleman for too long. If it is supporting others, he has done it enough. He should come back, we organize ourselves and I look for him friends. I have so many friends. President Uhuru Kenyatta is my friend even if he fired me for no reason)
Echesa’s recent remarks have left speculations on his next political move after he hinted at cutting ties completely with DP Ruto.
