The race for the 2022 general election continues to take shape as politicians and parties strategize for seats in the much-awaited polls.
The succession politics has been complicated by the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
A section of Jubilee Party leaders has been vocal accusing Raila of allegedly bringing trouble in the ruling party.
The politicians claim that Raila is hiding behind the handshake for his own advantage in 2022 election.
The handshake has also seen NASA and other opposition political parties become dormant.
However, politicians who are both supporting the handshake and those questioning it are working on strategies and there are likely form giant alliances before the 2022 polls.
As the much-awaited referendum is passed, here are giant political alliances and partnerships likely to be formed ahead of 2022 election
1. Raila- Ruto-Mudavadi
In politics they say there are no permanent enemies.
Despite there rivalry, opposition leader Raila Odinga could easily partner and work with Deputy President William Ruto.
In this partnership, Raila can strike a deal with Ruto and Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Raila could be the presidential candidate, deputised by Ruto while Mudavadi takes the prime minister.
In 2007 general election Raila and Ruto were in the same camp (ODM) and claimed victory in the disputed presidential election that led to post-election violence.
2. Ruto- Kalonzo-Mudavadi
Deputy President William Ruto and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka enjoy a cordial political relationship.
Chances of Ruto and Kalonzo partnering ahead of the 2022 general election is high.
In this alliance, Ruto can contest as the president, Kalonzo as deputy president and Mudavadi as the prime minister.
3. Raila- Moi-Kalonzo
Raila and the Moi family has a long political history.
In this possible partnership, Raila can contest the presidency, Gideon Moi as deputy president and Kalonzo Musyoka as prime minister.
4. Mudavadi- Kalonzo-Moi
Musalia Mudavadi remains a strong force in Kenya's politics.
The Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader can sign deal to work with Kalonzo and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
In this possible alliance, Mudavadi could go for the presidential seat, Kalonzo for the deputy and Moi for prime minister.
It is a matter of time to see whether the above alliances can be formed in readiness for 2022 polls.
