Yogurt is one of the milk product that people enjoy. It has several health benefits for the consumer including boosting one's immune system, reducing the chances of urinary infections, increasing ones calcium intake among others.
There are those people who only consumes fresh foods without any preservatives, to achieve this, you will have to consider home-made yogurt.
The following are what you require to make yogurt from home:
Equipment:
Pot, oven, cooler, stirring stick, glasses and food thermometer. Ensure all the equipment are free from germs and bacteria ……
Ingredients.
Milk, yogurt culture, water, honey, thickeners.
Procedures:
1. Heat the milk until it boils at 180 degrees. Make sure you are stirring during heating. Let it cool until it is only warm without forgetting to stir in the process of cooling. If you want a sweet and thick yogurt, this is the stage where you will add your honey, or even normal sugar then stir until it is dissolved as well as the thickener.
2. Get a small amount of the cooled but warm milk in a glass and add into your yogurt culture. Stir until the yogurt culture is fully dissolved. Add the result to the rest of the milk in your pot. You can add flavors and food colors at this point.
3. Put the pot at a place, for instance, inside the off-oven and let it incubate for at least 4 hours. The time it takes to incubate (turn into yogurt) depends on the yogurt culture used.
4. Refrigerate the yogurt.
After waiting for at least 4 hours and ensuring your yogurt has formed, put it in a refrigerator to the temperature of your liking. From there you will be good to have it with your family.
