He disclosed that it is the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who approached him, urging him to join the party in a bid to unite the Kamba community.

"Kalonzo wanted to bring the community together since there were leaders who had broken away like Governor Alfred Mutua and Charity Ngilu who was in another party, among others," Kibwana said.

Kibwana spoke during an interview on local radio on Monday.

He said his people gave him the consent to work with the former Vice President after consulting them.

The then Muungano party chairman said he was ready for primaries despite the direct nomination offered to him by the Wiper party.

"There was a candidate who was interested in contesting for the same seat with a Wiper party ticket. I would have gone for nominations, but he left the party and joined another one," Kibwana said.

Kibwana said his stay in Wiper was bearing fruits as leaders had been brought together until the party started experiencing lack of democracy.

"Having suggestions and questions in Wiper attracted all kinds of malice and attacks from other leaders in the party. When I asked for Kalonzo's development track record, I was told I'm disrespectful to him. There's no democracy in Wiper," he said.

He said lack of democracy pushed him to relinquish his sit as Wiper chairman.

Kibwana said he wouldn't mind if he is locked from the party because he only acts according to his people's wishes.
