Veteran politician Koigi Wa Wamwere has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga of forcing their ideas on Kenyans through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking on Saturday, the former Subukia faulted the two for singlehandedly compiling the BBI taskforce without involving Kenyans, which he termed as an attempt to have their will imposed on Kenyans.
He said that two people should not think they can decide on the fate of millions of Kenyans as the duo is attempting to, predicting resistance from Kenyans.
"I don't believe the president and Raila can alone tell Kenyans something and we follow. (Siamini Rais na Raila wakiwa pekee yao wanaweza waambie wakenya mamilioni jambo na tukafuata)," Wamwere said on Saturday evening.
The former Nakuru senatorial aspirant was speaking on Cheche show on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi.
He also poured cold water on the BBI taskforce compiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga after their 2018 truce.
The 14-member team has been tasked with the role of crisscrossing the nation engaging Kenyans, in search of ideas that can be deployed to put to rest the culture of social and political wrangles in the nation after election seasons.
But the former Subukia MP who crossed over to Raila's side in 2017 now says that the team lacks legality and lacks the mandate to engage in what it has been doing.
"BBI ningetaka kuamini inataka kuleta mabadiliko yanayoingiana na demokrasia lakini inakosa uhalisia. Nani aliyeichagua? Kwa sababu watu wawili hawawezi keti kisha wakatangaza tuneunda shirika fulani," he said.
This translates to; "I want to believe that BBI seeks to bring democratic changes but it lacks legality. Who appointed it? Two people cannot sit down and announce the formation of an organization."
Raila has since hinted that the task force will arrive at a referendum as the best remedy for the nation's political problems.
