Politicians dragging my name into the succession of President Uhuru Kenyatta before 2022 have ill-motives, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has said.
Speaking in Salawa, Baringo County, during the burial of Mr Wilson Chepkoit on Saturday, the senator said that he will not be distracted by the succession debate, to forget about his role as an elected leader.
He insisted that he has been tasked with delivering services to the people, adding that he will not be forced to make an announcement any time soon.
Moi, who also doubles as the chairman of KANU, urged all leaders to back the government as President Kenyatta seeks to leave behind a legacy upon completion of his second and final term in power.
“Who doesn’t know me? Frogs will make noise and however much, it will not stop a cow from taking water,” said the Senator.
Moi is considered one of the potential successors of President Kenyatta. His entry into the presidential contest will complicate matters for Deputy President William Ruto.
The second in command has insisted that he is the best candidate for the post, once Uhuru quits.
The newfound love between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga is also likely to make matters complicated for Ruto.
Raila believes Ruto is not an automatic heir of the throne.
