A host of leaders are currently in Kisumu attending the installation ceremony of Bishop Philip Anyolo as Kisumu Catholic archdioceses archbishop.
The event which has seen many political leaders across the divide avail themselves is ongoing at the Uzima University College Grounds in Kisumu.
ODM Party leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto are among leaders attending the event.
The other leaders are:
Eugene Wamalwa – Cabinet Secretary (CS) for devolution
Raychelle Omamo – CS, Defence
Anyang Nyong’o – Governor, Kisumu County
Wycliffe Wangamati, Governor Bungoma County
Chris Wamalwa – MP, Kiminini
Kimani Ichungwa – MP, Kikuyu
Paul Otiende Amolo – MP, Rarieda
Moses Kajwang –Sanator, Homabay County
Moses Wetangula – Senator, Bungoma
In November last year, Pope Francis appointed the Bishop of Homa Bay Philip Anyolo as Archbishop of Kisumu Catholic Diocese.
Anyolo, who also doubles up as the chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), will be taking over from Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth.
The latter is retiring after serving in the position since May 21, 1990.
President Kenyatta, Ruto and Odinga visited Kisumu County last month during the launch of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme.
Kenyatta was among leaders invited for the event.
