The latter picked a war with Uhuru last Sunday when he demanded that Uhuru comes out clear on his joint plans with opposition leader Uhuru Kenyatta.

He went ahead to organize a demonstration in Nakuru Town on Tuesday after Uhuru referred to him as a fool from Mombasa on Monday.

But according to Wambugu, far from his claims that he is fighting for Ruto, Ngunjiri is actually out to benefit himself and is in pursuit of a defacto kingship slot in Rift Valley.

Wambugu told the Nation that Ngunjiri is hoping to divide the Kikuyu community with the hope that Ruto will crown him the Rift Valley Kikuyu kingpin.

"He is an opportunist acting with the hope that (Dr) Ruto can help him to split the Kikuyu residing in Rift Valley from those in Central and thereby get crowned as kingpin of Rift Valley Kikuyu” he is quoted.

The Rift Valley Kikuyu community has been pushing to politicaly break away from their Central Kenya kin and play their politics in line with their surrounding.

However, Wambugu observed that his namesake's plot is headed for a failure, insisting that nobody can snatch even a portion of the Kikuyu region from the Head of State.

My namesake is laying the ground to exit from the President’s wings. But he has miscalculated badly.

He and others are assuming that His Excellency’s influence will wane but they need to reflect on Kuria's apology to realize just how wrong they reaky are," he added.

His remarks followed the apology of Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria who was also captured firing salvos at Uhuru on December 31.
