The Suba South MP John Mbadi-sponsored motion seeks to cap contributions at Sh100, 000, in what the National Assembly Minority Leader says will go along way in battling corruption in the public sector.

Mbadi wants state officers seeking to give more than the said amount to offer explanations on the source of the money.

However, speaking in Nyandarua County on Sunday, the DP poked holes into the proposal, warning MPs against supporting it.

He spoke at Kasuku PCEA church in Oljororok, where he also assured the Mt Kenya region that he will not force it to back his 2022 presidential bid, after supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta twice in 2013 and 2017.

“There is only one debt. President Uhuru Kenyatta and I owe Kenyans because we promised to deliver projects to them," he was quoted by the People Daily.

Ruto, however, noted that a number of area leaders are out to fight him ahead of the race.

He stressed on the need for political leaders to concentrate on service delivery instead of fighting others, adding that together with the president, they are well on course on matters delivery.

“The assignment you gave us with the President will continue and even intensify. I urge fellow leaders to share with Kenyans what development programmes they have done rather than engaging in political witchhunt,” added the DP.

Ruto was accompanied by a host of area leaders led by Governor Francis Kimemia.
