Residents of Riakangara village in Kiong’anyo, Kisii County are mourning the death of a class 6 boy who was robbed Sh500 by thugs before he was killed and his body dumped in a bush on Saturday evening.

According to the boy’s mother, Marisela Nyaboke, she had given her son, Edwin, Sh500 to buy cooking oil, sugar and salt at Bobaracho shopping center when he met his cruel death. 

“I sent my son to a shop to buy cooking oil, salt, and sugar on Saturday at 8 pm but, he didn’t return home. I followed him to the shop and he was nowhere to be seen,” she said. 

She said she alerted neighbors who launched a search the whole night but didn’t find him. 

Area chief Daniel Aming’a said the boy’s lifeless body was discovered in a small bush few meters away from the shopping center where he had been sent.

An alarm was raised and residents arrived only to find the boy murdered, his right hand chopped off.

Aming’a said the body had physical neck, hand injuries a clear indication that he struggled with his killers. 

He said investigations have been launched to arrest the killers and the body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital mortuary.
