Villagers of Borangi village in Ichuni, Kisii County are mourning the death of a 4th year Kisii University students who committed suicide on Monday evening.
Confirming the incident area Chief, Alice Moige said the deceased Ronald Misiani Oira engaged in a fight with his girlfriend Agnes Areri before he committed suicide.
"Oira disagreed with his girlfriend who he accused of having another man. He beat her up, chased her away from his house before he committed suicide," said the chief.
Moige said the deceased mother, Zipporah Moraa discovered the body and raised alarm.
The administrator said she immediately alerted police officers from Keumbu who arrived at the homestead and took the body to Gucha hospital morgue.
"We are tracing the deceased girlfriend to explain why they were fighting which prompted Oira to commit suicide. The body was taken to Gucha hospital morgue," said the chief.
She warned residents against committing suicide whenever they face difficulties in life.
The chief called on members of the clergy to remember locals in prayers to help in curbing unnecessary deaths.
