Operations at the Moi County Referral Hospital - Voi were paralysed for the better part of Wednesday following power interruption.
Residents within Voi town said the hospital has been out of operation for few days now over alleged electricity arrears, affecting patients in need of X-ray, surgical and other services.
Through the Office of the County Health Services Executive Dr Frank Mwangemi, the County Government of Taita Taveta issued a notice to members of the public, notifying them that engineers will be on ground "to repair major electrical fault that has affected operations" at the facility.
"This morning (23/01/2019) engineers shall be on ground to repair major electrical fault that has affected operations at Moi County Referral Hospital, Voi."
The notice said the electrical and generator interchange connectors were affected, hence a total shutdown during the period of repairs.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused," read the notice.
The hospital has an expansive catchment that stretches as far as some parts of northern Tanzania.
It also serves as a referral medical centre for travellers involved in accidents along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
