Deputy President William Ruto could soon be reduced to an unwanted guest in the vote-rich Luo Nyanza region, ahead of his 2022 presidential candidature.
And expected to soon embark on a national tour in search of the much needed backing, he will obviously not afford to ignore the region which is largely allied to the opposition side.
However, the same will be met with hostility courtesy of his allies' opposition of the reignited referendum push initiated by opposition leader Raila Odinga.
And with the region most likely to side with Odinga who doubles up as its political don, his opposition will surely see him receive a cold reception in the area.
Also, he is set to suffer from his renewed war with the veteran politician, after he on Sunday referred to Raila as a political conman and treacherous person.
Speaking in Mombasa on Sunday, Ruto accused Raila of championing for his exit from the ruling Jubilee party, leading to a verbal exchange which Nyanza people are obviously not happy about.
Also, with Raila expected to take his fifth shot at the presidential seat in 2022, it will be very hard for Ruto to make any progress in the region as he seeks to achieve the same.
He, therefore, will be an unwelcome guest in the region as one cannot expect to invade another persons home and be lauded by their family.
Therefore, tough days lie ahead for Ruto, as he moves towards attempting to realize his dream for the top seat.
He should, therefore, expect poorly attended rallies, booing, and zero votes in his ballot come 2022.
