Police in Busia are investigating circumstances under which a middle aged woman claimed to have been sent by President Uhuru Kenyatta to pledge Sh100 million for a local school.
Dorothy Khaduyu, reports the Standard, shocked hundreds of residents in Funyula constituency when she claimed that the President had authorized her to represent him.
Apparently, organisers said, Uhuru was not invited to the function at St Cecilia Nangina whose fund-drive was meant to help in construction on a hall.
Area MP Oundo Mudenyo, who could have technically represented the president in the function, was also among those stunned by the bizarre incident.
But Khaduyu insisted that President Uhuru was aware of her presence in the function further shocking local authorities.
Government officials were forced to order for her arrest after none failed to know the arrangement by State House.
Routinely, local administrators are informed by State House in case the president or his representatives are assigned to attend any function.
