Business came into a standstill at Kebirigo shopping center in Nyamira County after two women traders engaged in a physical fight over a man's love.
Witnesses said the women, Ann Kemunto a tomato vendor and Edinah Bosibori who sells vegetables, have been dating Robert Onchera who is a bodaboda rider in the area.
"Kemunto spotted Bosibori entering a local food joint with Onchera and rushed there only to find them eating from the same plate. Upon questioning Bosibori why she was eating with her lover, a fight broke out," said a witness Isaiah Nyanami.
Mr Nyanami said it took the intervention of other traders to stop the women from fighting.
The market administrator Martin Onserio condemned the incident and said the man who the two women were fighting for escaped from the scene immediately the fight broke.
"The man used his motorbike to escape from the scene when members of the public crowded the food joint. Even if men are scarce women should stop fighting in public because of men," he said.
Onserio said the women were suspended from the market.
Area assistant chief Erick Marando said he summoned the women to appear in his office on Tuesday 11 am.
