Two suspected members of Wakali Kwanza criminal gang were on Monday killed in Kisauni and Likoni, Mombasa County.
One of the two suspects was gunned down in Bamburi Mwisho in Kisauni Constituency by police during on Monday morning.
The second suspect was killed by a mob in Mrima, Likoni Constituency at around 5 am after a botched robbery attempt.
Kisauni Police Commander Julius Kiragu who confirmed the gunning down of the first suspect said seven more suspects of the said machete-wielding gang managed to escape.
“One other suspect escaped with gun injuries,” Kiragu said.
The deceased's bodies were later moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary.
The killings come barely after a week since another newly-formed gang, 86 battalion, attacked residents in Kisauni and Nyali, where at least 10 people were admitted in hospital with serious injuries.
Nyali Deputy County Commissioner Silus Gatobu said police had identified key hideouts for the 86 battalion gang and was tracing them.
“We have established a new gang calling itself 86 battalion is the one attacking people here in Mwandoni and Bakarani area, we have seen their hideouts and we are soon going to arrest owners of the houses for interrogation,” Gitobu said.
Kisauni and Likoni are the most affected areas by these criminals gangs.
