Maraga challenged the commission not to allow the country to walk in the same path it did ten years ago ahead of the 2022 presidential elections.

Rev Samuel Kobia has assumed office as the chairman of the commission following the retirement of former Speaker Francis Ole Kaparo.

Others who took the oat as members of the commission are former Mandera East MP Abdulaziz Ali Farah, former Vihiga Woman Rep Dorcas Kedogo, former Rangwe MP Phillip Okundi, former Nairobi Finance CEC Danvas Makori, Peris Nyutu and Fatuma Tabwara.

The new team is expected to embark on its duties with immediate effect after the appointment.

"The new team of @NCIC_Kenya Chairperson and Members sworn-in today. From left: Fatuma Tabwara, Danvas Makori, Abdulaziz Ali Farah, Dorcas Kedogo, Rev. Samuel Kobia, Samuel Kona, Philip Okundi and Peris Nyutu at the Supreme Court," NCIC said in a tweet.

CJ Maraga presided over the oath-taking ceremony at the Supreme Court where he wished the new team well as it assumes office.

“This morning, I presided over the swearing-in of the Chairperson and the seven members of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission at the Supreme Court. Congratulations to the new NCIC leadership. I wish you the very best as you serve Kenyans in this important capacity,” he tweeted

Kobia is expected to bring on board his skills and experiences as he succeeds Ole Kaparo.
