Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna now says that the praise being heaped on former political detainees Charles Rubia and Stanley Matiba exceeds what they should be getting.
The two, both deceased, have been lauded for their active involvement in the push for the second liberation, push for multiparty democracy, which saw them end up in prison and tortured by the State.
Miguna now says that the two are being overly praised, saying that their patriotism cannot match that of former independence fighter, the late Bildad Kaggia, if politicians from Kandara, Murang'a County are to be weighed.
Basing on the argument, he bashed Siaya Senator James Orengo, who attended Rubia's funeral ceremony on Monday, for failing to mention Kaggia in his funeral speech.
"The Gold Medal Holder for Patriotism from Kandara wasn't Charles Rubia or Stanley Matiba - it was Bildad Kaggia. It was a monumental scandal that James Orengo could not utter Kaggia's name at Rubia's funeral. We will protect our history from defilement. RevolutionNow," he tweeted on Wednesday.
Rubia and Matiba are among politicians who were repeatedly harassed by the police in the 90s, due to their pressure on then, President Daniel Moi's government to embrace multiparty democracy.
On the other hand, Kaggia was among the notable independence fighters who were jailed at the Lokitaung Prison in Kapenguria over their push for liberation from the British colonialists.
