Sometimes it is even difficult to start imagining of a possible scenario where Deputy President William Ruto and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho can work together to create a winning political team or coalition. The two are 'sworn' political enemies.
Kenyan politics is however unpredictable. The enemies of today can become friends of tomorrow.
As such, the possible union between Joho and Dr. Ruto can never be ruled out in future. But how can this happen?
The DP can take advantage of Joho's tricky political situation in ODM. The Mombasa Governor has set his eyes on the Presidency. However, the choice of political vehicle to state house may handicap his quest to rule Kenya after the 2022 general election.
Why? Should Raila Odinga, the ODM party leader, where Joho is a senior member, makes another stab at the presidency, then Joho will be left with no option but ditch the orange party.
On his side, the DP is fighting a fight of his life within his Jubilee party in his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Just like Joho, Dr. Ruto may be forced to make a bold political decision. Is quitting Jubilee an option? That cannot be ruled out.
So, this brings the subject of a possible union between the two ambitious leaders who are keen to lead Kenya, with Joho playing second fiddle to the current Kenya's number two, possibly with a promise for the DP to support his 2027 bid. This is politics. You never know of tomorrow.
