Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi has reaffirmed that security will be tight before, during and after the upcoming census exercise slated to start on Saturday, August 24/25, 2019.
Speaking on Wednesday in Suneka during a public baraza, Kigochi said officials who will be conducting the census exercise should not be worried.
He said members of the public caught disrupting the peaceful exercise will not be spared by the law.
"As residents prepare to participate in the census exercise starting on Saturday at 6 pm, I wish to assure all residents that their security is guaranteed. Any member of the public found causing disturbance aimed at disrupting the exercise won't be condoned whatsoever. Let those conducting the exercise do it peacefully," he said.
The county security boss reiterated that the county has enough police officers to patrol day and night throughout the census exercise.
He appealed to local youths to participate in the exercise which will help the national and county governments plan accordingly.
"Criminals should not pretend to be officers counting people and at the end steal from residents. Police and local chiefs will be vigilant to curb any criminal activities," he added.
