United Bodaboda Association (UBA) on Tuesday launched their digital platform termed Bodacare aimed at improving service delivery.
Speaking in Nakuru during the launch, the association chairman Kimani wa Nduthi commended the move saying it will ensure protection and general welfare of the operators.
He said the operators will now register and pay a monthly contribution of Sh500 for the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
“Most bodaboda operators have no NHIF and that is why we came up with the Bodacare to ensure that they register and pay Sh500 monthly but through installments of Sh20 per day which is affordable,” said Wa Nduthi.
The digital platform for payments has been enabled through Jambo Pay, a partnership with Jambo sure.
Elvis Okoth from Jambo Sure said the platform is an empowerment to the operators.
“We have partnered with Bodacare to ensure they have a contribution to NHIF, get funding for their own motorbikes as well as affordable rates for insurance cover,” Okoth said.
The forum was attended by Deputy OCPD Daniel Kitavi, Deputy OCS Augustine Kisembe, officials from NTSA Nakuru branch as well as officials of bodaboda operators from all the 47 counties.
