Police in Kakamega County have launched a manhunt for an Administration Police officer accused of shooting and killing his wife.

The officer identified as Patrick Nyapara allegedly turned against Christine Mango, at their home in Navakholo on Thursday, before taking off.

Confirming the incident on Friday, regional police boss Rashid Yakub said that the incident might have been as a result of domestic troubles as the two have been locked in disputes.

He added that the latter who is stationed at the Navakholo Police Station remains at large, but his fellow officers have launched a pursuit for him.

"The police officer is at large but we are pursuing him," he told the Daily Nation.

The police boss also called upon civilians to aid in the same by offering any reports that might help in the pursuit to the police.

He said that the officer will be subjected to murder charges upon apprehension, adding that they have since recovered the Ceska pistol reportedly used in the murder.

"We managed to recover the Ceska pistol he used to commit the murder but we are yet to arrest him. We request anyone with information about his whereabouts to volunteer to the police,” he added.

The deceased was a teacher at the Navakholo Secondary School and resulted in caps and unrest in the area as students and villagers protested the said murder.

The same led to tension at the nearby Navakholo market as students and villagers engaged the police in running battles.
