It is alleged that the local administrator Simon Oroo was accompanied with two Nyumba Kumi officials identified as Moses Nyambeo and Nicholas Omete and were going to destroy changaa brewing home.

"I was tipped by members of the public that one of the villagers was selling the outlawed local brew. I asked the officials to accompany me to the homestead at 6pm and destroy chang'aa without knowing we could be attacked," said the local administrator.

He said three youths armed with pangas ordered them to stop and surrender their mobile phones and money.

"The gang wearing masks came out from a small bush and asked us to lie down and surrender all our belongings. The officials tried to prevent me but, unfortunately the gang descend on them prompting me to escape on foot to a nearby sugarcane plantation," he said.

Oroo confirmed that the gang cut the two Nyumba Kumi officials deeply on the forehead and hit their legs with rungus.

"Nyambeo and Omete are receiving treatment at Kisii Teaching and referral hospital. The gang stole two mobile phones and Sh2,000 from the officials," he added.

He assured that the gang is being hunted down to be arrested.
