Former Governor Hussein Dado has vowed to find Italian volunteer Silvia Romano and those behind the kidnapping.
Mr Dado who is the Devolution ministry’s chief administrative secretary (CAS) said he will personally go into the forest to search for the 23-year-old Italian student.
Mr Dado gave the security agencies and the pastoral community in the area a five-day ultimatum to find Ms Romano or he will join the hunt himself.
Speaking during Maulid celebrations at Oda in Garsen, the ex-governor said the incident has affected transport and businesses in the area.
While condemning the incident, Mr Dado said the attack on innocent people and abduction is against the Islamic faith and teachings as he urged members of the public to work closely with security agencies on the matter.
“It’s almost a month since the Italian volunteer was abducted. I might be forced to join in the hunt for the abductors in the forest if she is not found by Saturday.”
“The incident does not represent or conform to Islamic faith and I urge the public to give information to police that could lead to the arrest of the culprits and recovery of the volunteer,” he said.
Ms Romano was abducted on November 20, 2018, by armed men who shot and injured five locals in Chakama in Kilifi County.
More than 20 suspects have been arrested by the police in connection to the kidnapping.
