Ladies aspiring to join the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) in Garissa county have been turned away in the ongoing recruitment.
According to the recruiting officers, they were not taking any single lady in this specific constituency.
Speaking to journalists in Garissa grounds, the station's head of KDF recruitment Lieutenant Arwasa revealed that female aspirants in the recruiting center will miss out owing to the competitiveness of the exercise. However, he divulged that other centers would be more than willing take girls.
"KDF is an equal opportunity employer, but for this station, we are not taking any lady in this particular ground. But in other stations, ladies will be considered," Arwasa stated.
For the men who have since made their way into the grounds in large numbers, the recruiting officer said that they would be taking the top four in running exercise and top four in terms of mean grade. The two groups will then compete for the best four available slots.
Despite the large number that turned up, many were turned away for failing to meet the KDF minimums. Among the disqualifying factors included Varicose veins, flat feet, incomplete dental formula among others.
