The government had started a programme of building new as well as renovating and modernizing stadia across the country.

Speaking during this year's Kass Marathon on Sunday, Governor Mandago called on Sports Cabinet Secretary to move and see to it that the projects are completed.

"I call upon the Cabinet Secretary for Sports Rashid Echesa to move with speed to ensure that these facilities are completed," said governor Mandago.

"Sport is a crucial undertaking and a tool that has branded Kenya globally, therefore, the Ministry should ensure that they have enough funds for the establishment of facilities for our athletes," added the Governor.

Kipchoge Keino Sports Stadium in Eldoret town has been fitted with all-weather track albeit expansion and modernization works are yet to be completed.

Governor Mandago also revealed that a new contractor will soon be awarded the tender to complete the county-funded Chagaiya High Altitude Training Centre.

The first contractor is said to have lacked the capacity to complete the project.
