The coastal political 'lioness', Aisha Jumwa, is not new to controversy. Some of the people who understand what she can do when mad are her in-laws. The fearless politician you see on the podium taking on political heavyweights started fighting her battles early in life. When she noticed that her husband wanted to block her political journey and demanded dowry reimbursement, she returned it herself to the in-laws.
“He said that if I wanted to continue with my life, I should pay him dowry. We went to the sub-chief, made the decision and I paid back the dowry,” she said as quoted by Kenya Today.
After the divorce, Jumwa has moved on and achieved admirable political status. She was elected Kilifi Woman Representative and currently, she is the Malindi parliamentary representative.
After making it big in Raila Odinga led Orange Democratic Movement, Jumwa has voiced her support for Deputy President William Ruto.
Her move has caused another storm in ODM but she has vowed not to shift gears and even dared ODM leadership to take any disciplinary action they deem fit and within the constitutional mandate.
As Ruto graced the Coastal region last week, she was one of the notable ODM figures pushing his 2022 presidential ambition.
