Among the faces whose role in the rescue mission cannot be ignored is the Kenya Red Cross' boss Abbas Gullet.

Gullet was at the forefront, leading his team despite the possible risk of being shot by the armed assailants baying for the blood of innocents.

Gullet's acts of bravery and patriotism have even caught the attention of former Deputy National Assembly Speaker Farah Maalim who proposes that he should be fronted for the Nobel peace prize.

In a social media post, Maalim described the Red Cross boss as a true servant of the people.

"There are a few Kenyans who distinguished themselves in achieving the impossible for humanity in moments of need. The SG of Kenya Red Cross Abbas Gedi Gulleid deserves the Nobel Prize for Peace. He leads his organisation from the front whenever we face a national crisis..." Maalim stated.
