The awarding event which took place on Wednesday at the constituency office was organized by the constituency officials as a Honourable Fred Ouda Foundation initiative.

According to Mr Dennis Onyango who is the Kisumu Central Constituency Communications Officer, the 40 students are set to join various Secondary Schools in the Country among them Kisumu Girls High School, Maranda High School and Maseno School.

“The scholarship covers fees for the selected students right from form one to form four,” said Mr Onyango.

He said that the beneficiaries were selected from a wide pool of applicants.

“Most of those who were considered managed to get 350 marks and above in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). We also considered the financial situation of the applicants’ families with those from needy families being given the first priority,” he said.

The Honourable Fred Ouda Foundation was initiated last year with 96 students getting education scholarships.

Fred Odhiambo Ouda is serving his first term after being elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party ticket in 2017.

He defeated several rivals among them former MP Ken Obura.
