This comes amid calls for a referendum spearheaded by the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga-led opposition block.

But speaking on Sunday, the latter who is in office courtesy of the opposition sponsorship termed the calls a waste of time.

This is in contradiction to the stand of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which has rooted for the the reintroduction of the parliamentary governance system.

However, according to the controversial county chief, leaders should concentrate on empowering their people instead of pushing for changes.

"Let all our leaders think about providing employment for our people instead of rushing to things like referendum,  that is a waste of time,” he told the Citizen Digital.

He added that the leaders should prioritize on issues that are of immediate benefit to Kenyans and openly lay out the actual motive behind their push.

Either way, he added, it must be more for the interest of the Kenyans and not politicians.

“If somebody is interested in bringing a referendum, let us first of all be shown how many new enterprises and factories they want to give our farmers. If we can start with that then the referendum can come later on," he added.

The latter is not new to controversy and collisions with the Raila Odinga-led Orange party due to his rebellious nature.

He recently opposed the party's choice of Ochilo Ayacko in the recent Migori senatorial by election.

His remarks seem to be in agreement with those of Deputy President William Ruto who has also opposed the same.

Speaking in Kakamega County last werk, the latter said that he will be part of a scheme by election losers in the 2017 polls to accommodate themselves in government.

“We have agreed to unite us leaders from the government and opposition to push the development agenda forward by improving roads infrastructure and ensuring more homes are connected to electricity.

The issue of who won the election in 2017 is a closed chapter,” he was quoted by the Nation.
