Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado was never treated in any special way while locked up at the Gigiri Police Station over the weekend, fresh details indicate.
Obado who was arrested by DCI detectives on Friday and locked up at Gigiri Police Station was treated like other suspects at station's cells.
According to Daily Nation, he shared his cell with another suspect involved in the shooting of former Garissa CEC in charge of Finance Idris Muktar.
He had to share his cell with five other Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials and other officials from the Kenya Ports Authority who were arrested on Saturday over their involvement in the importation of contraband goods at the Port of Mombasa.
Humbling for him, he slept on a cold, cemented floor and took the normal diet that other detainees at the station took.
He even took a shower at the bathroom within the police cells.

Since his arrest on Friday, only his wife Hellen Obado and his lawyers Rodgers Sagana and Cliff Ombeta were allowed to visit him though for a limited period of time.
Police at the station listened in to their conversation with him. Obado has been linked to the murder of Sharon Otieno – second-year Medical Records student at Rongo University.
Sharon was romantically involved with Obado and she was seven months pregnant at the time of her death.
A DNA sample collected from the foetus and another set collected from Obado confirmed that he was responsible for Sharon's pregnancy.
On Monday, he was charged with the murder of Sharon at the Milimani Law Courts, charges that he pleaded not guilty to. He was remanded at the Industrial Area prison until Tuesday 2 pm when his bail plea will be determined by Justice Jessie Lessit.
