The officer who was manning the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) offices in Kibos Area was reportedly attacked and injured before his gun was taken away.

However, according to the latest development, police have said that they retrieved the weapon in a Sunday night operation.

In a report on Citizen Digital on Monday, officers drawn from the Quick Response Team (QRT) noted that they recovered the gun before it was used for criminal purposes.

The report indicates that the officers responded to distress calls from the public in Kanyakwar area where armed robbers had struck.

This resulted to a shootout, as the law enforcers engaged the alleged criminals, before the suspects fled to a nearby thicket around Uzima University, abandoning the riffle.

Several phones and 26 rounds of ammunition were also recovered from the gang.

The group had been reportedly trailing a businesswoman with the intention of attacking her.

The officer in question ended up at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga hospital after the attack.
