Kisii County-based female politician has accused Governor James Ongwae of failing to empower women.
Rachael Otundo while speaking in Kisii town on Sunday accused the county boss of ignoring women for the several months he has been in office for the second term.
She appealed to the Ongwae to surrender Keumbu market toilets to women so that they can manage and generate money for their own benefit.
"Women in Kisii are not enjoying Governor Ongwae's leadership despite him promising to empower women during the 2017 polls. Ongwae should move with speed to ensure women in the county are benefiting from his leadership," she noted.
The vocal politician reiterated that male politicians have been discriminating women politicians in the county.
"As women leaders, we must be recognized by men. Male politicians should not see us as wild animals who should be at game parks," she added.
Ms. Otundo who doubles as the Gusii Governance Watch secretary general challenged women to come out in large numbers to compete with women in politics.
"In future, we need to have more women clinching various elective posts from Kisii region," said Otundo.
