Speaking in Siaya on Saturday, the team led by Siaya Senator James Orengo urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to further intensify the purge

However, it already seems too hot for a section of their colleagues allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

They called upon the head of State to pay no attention to a section of Rift Valley leaders who have been intimidating him and go even deeper in pursuit of the corrupt.

Gem lawmaker Elisha Odhiambo assured Uhuru of his safety as far as political attacks are concerned, telling him to go all out and leave a history as the man who slayed the graft monster.

"This is the time the President must stand out to be counted. Mr President you should not be intimidated by anybody because of your deputy. You must act now.

As MPs we will not allow anyone to attack you and our leader Raila," Elisha was quoted the Sunday Standard.

The group which also included Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga and Ugunja lawmaker Opiyo Wandayi also wants Deputy President William Ruto to avail himself at the DCI offices.

They stressed on the need for the DP to explain his source of information that only Ksh7 billion was lost in the Arror and Kimwarer dam scandals, contrary to DCI's reports that it was Ksh21 billion.

However, the calls come at a time when the section allied to Ruto has expressed discomfort with how the anti-graft war is being done.

They have repeatedly termed it s plot to paint Ruto corrupt with an aim of making him hard sell ahead of the 2022 presidential elections.

They have also termed ir a plot to sabotage development projects in Rift Valley region.
