US tech giant Google has honoured the author of 'The River and the Source', Margaret Atieno Ogola.

The firm said that Ogolla played an immense role in the education of sector.  

According to Google, Ogola, who was a novelist, paediatrician, and human rights advocate deserves to the remembered. The tech firm celebrated the life of the late author with a doodle on what would have been her 60th birthday.

 “Happy to celebrate Kenyan award-winning author, activist and doctor, the late Dr Margaret Ogola, author of The River and the Source,” tweeted Google Africa.

Ogolla was born on June 12, 1958, in Asembo, Siaya County. 

She pursued her O-Levels at Thompson’s Falls High School where she emerged the best student overall. The exemplary results saw her admitted at the Alliance Girls High School for A-levels. After she completed her High School Education, she enrolled at the University of Nairobi where she graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree in 1984. 

The good grades and her passion to serve Kenyans in different capacities made her secure a chance to work at Kenyatta National Hospital. 

Ogolla has remained one of the most respected authors of all time since she entered the field.
