Police in Narok County are holding a man thought to be a terrorist.
Adan Galhai alias Urisha Galhai was arrested on Saturday morning while attempting to access the Narok Stadium which was hosting the Madaraka Day Celebrations.
The suspect was reportedly in the company of another suspect who, however, managed to escape, and is thought to have links with the Somalia-based Al Shabaab terror organization.
According to the police, it has been established that the latter who is aged 22, converted to Islam in 2014. He told the police that he has been living in Eastleigh estate in Nairobi.
The police said that Galhai's arrest was the second in a span of a few hours, having escaped from military officers after he was again arrested while trying to access the stadium on Friday night.
According to police statements he managed to escape while being questioned, before apparently making his second attempt which was equally futile.
“He wanted to enter the stadium yesterday and when searched, his national identity card and another [ID] written 'National Security' were recovered from him. While being questioned, he escaped," reads the statement, according to the nation.
The celebrations were led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and attended by a host of local and national leaders, alongside thousands of Kenyans.
