Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has claimed that he was not aware of the party's crisis meeting that had been set for Tuesday to address the apparent issues within the bloc.
The Parliamentary Group meeting was apparently aimed at ironing out the differences between the two factions of the party allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
However, in a press conference on Monday, Tuju dismissed the set meeting, noting that the party is not facing any crisis and is nowhere near a collapse and, therefore, needs no crisis meeting.
In an interview on Citizen television hours later, he said that he was unaware of the meeting and only learnt about it when he came back from his rural home in Rarieda.
"I didn't know about any PG meeting as I was away in Rarieda and only learnt about it from media persons who wanted to interview me when I arrived back in Nairobi," said the former Rarieda lawmaker.
This is despite the fact the set meeting received a fair share of airtime in the media.
Revelations about the rift within the Kenyatta-led formation were first made by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen who last Sunday claimed that plans are on course within Uhuru's quarters to push Ruto away.
This, he said, is in a bid to prevent his 2022 presidency.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator also claimed that the proposed lifestyle audit is also serving the same purpose and is widely aimed at raising suspicions on Ruto's integrity.
