The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has ordered that TV journalist Jacqueline Maribe and Joseph Irungu alias Jowie be charged with murder.
His case is based on a report submitted to him by investigators unleashed on the case.
DPP Haji said the two accused persons should be charged with the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
After reviewing the evidence, Haji contends that he has found that there is sufficient evidence to warrant criminal prosecution against the two.
DPP Haji on Tuesday morning in a statement directed that Ms Maribe and Mr Irungu be immediately arraigned before the High Court to answer to the charges.
“I have, therefore, directed that they are immediately arraigned before the High Court and charged accordingly. I am satisfied that there exists a prima facie to warrant criminal prosecution for the offence murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code,” said DPP Haji.
Monica’s body was found dead on September 19 in a bathtub in her Nairobi apartment with her throat slit and hands tied.
Mr Irungu was arrested in connection with the murder of Monica after her neighbor positively identified him as the last person who was seen at her house at Luciane Apartments in Kilimani.
Ms Maribe was arrested on September 30.
