Prostitution, though a full-time employment to a section of Kenyans, in Nakuru it remains an evil and unethical mode of work to many members of the society.
This becomes very evident, on most occasions, when those against it mock sex workers.
Considering that they usually hang out in large numbers in their places of work, mostly around sex dens and bars, the prostitutes come across people who castigate them.
This is what happens when you mock a Nakuru hooker;
1. Insults
Prostitutes tend to be very good at insults which are freely unleashed whenever necessary.
Sex workers will always embarrass you if you try to badmouth them. With nothing to lose, they will call you all the names.
2. Beatings
To them, especially at night, fighting is a usual thing and since they enjoy unity at their places of work, you can easily head back home with bruises after they land on you with kicks and blows once you show disrespect to their job.
This is usually their main weapon against drunks. Knowing well that insults have no effect on such people, they pounce with kicks and blows.
3. Counter-mockery
At night, some will use your own remarks to hit back at you while at the same time striving to compel you into giving it a shot with them.
Especially along the ever-busy Kanu Street, they will in low tones question what you are doing in the area if not looking for their services and at times accuse you of being ‘unable to perform’.
To most men, this is an insult that can only be soothed by proving themselves, ending up in bed with the people they were initially laughing at.
