An ODM politician has assured Deputy President William Ruto that he is welcome to Gusii region.
This comes amid claims that the DP will not receive the support of the region in the 2022 polls.
Speaking on Sunday at Sengera Parish in Bomochoge Chache Constituency, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi said DP Ruto is a national leader who is entitled to traverse all corners of the country.
Maangi noted that he and other leaders in the region won't boycott functions that the DP will be presiding over in the vote-rich region.
"DP Ruto is welcome anytime he feels like coming to Nyamira or Kisii County. There is no need for his critics to continue dwelling so much on divisive politics since DP Ruto has been giving financial support to our churches to improve infrastructure," said Maangi.
The vocal deputy governor rubbished claims that DP Ruto has bribed MPs Alfa Miruka of Bomachoge Chache, Ezekiel Machogu of Nyaribari Masaba, Sylvanus Osoro of South Mugirango, Oroo Oyioka of Bonchari, Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri, Shadrack Mose of Kitutu Masaba, Vincent Kemosi of West Mugirango and North Mugirango's Joash Nyamoko in a bid to rally support for him in the upcoming polls.
"It is a democratic right for every leader to choose who to support. No money has been given out to MPs to back DP Ruto for the presidency in 2022," said Maangi.
