Uhuru lifted the suspension of the judge following the recommendations of a tribunal which investigated him over a number of claims.

In an Executive Order dated August 15, the president reinstated Ojwang' with immediate effect, adding that no appeal had been filed against the tribunal's decision.

"Justice Ojwang' is reinstated to the office and all remunerations and benefits adjusted during the term of his suspension, pursuant to Article 168 (6) of the Constitution, shall accrue to the [judge] with immediate effect,” read part of his statement as quoted by Nation.

Ojwang' was asked to step aside early this year after he was accused of misconduct while in the line of duty.

A petitioner, Nelson Oduor and eight other people filed a complaint against Justice Ojwang' at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Ojwang’ was also accused of breaching the judicial code of conduct at the court while discharging his duties.

The tribunal, which was formed by President Kenyatta following a recommendation from JSC, found the judge innocent of the charges leveled against him.

The tribunal was made up of; Justice (Rtd.) Festus Azangalala,  Amina Abdalla,  Andrew Bahati Mwamuye, Sylvia Wanjiku Muchiri, Senior Counsel Lucy Kambuni and lawyer Ambrose Weda.

Ojwang’ was suspended on April 2 after he failed to appear before JSC to respond to the claims leveled against him.
