Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi has asked Gusii leaders to support Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Speaking on Saturday when she joined Christians at Matongo SDA church for a fund drive, Momanyi said leaders whether elected or not should consider supporting the CS.
"I am urging leaders in Nyamira and Kisii Counties to support Matiang'i who is representing the Gusii community at the national level. I wish to confirm that supporting him will increase the bargaining power at the national level politics thus increase chances of Matiang'i going for the presidency in 2022," she said.
The Jubilee Party legislator said leaders who will not throw their weight behind Matiang'i are enemies of the community.
She further warned leaders in the Tangatanga team against undermining the CS at the expense of pleasing their master.
"As a community, we must be proud of our own son who is at the front line calling for unity. Leaders from communities that have produced presidents have embraced peace. Why should we find it hard to unite and support one of our own? It is time leaders worked as a team and lead community members towards one direction," noted the Woman Rep.
During the fund drive, the legislator donated Sh20,000.
