Shikuku, who died of prostate cancer, dug his own grave and as if that was not enough to satisfy his soul in death, he went ahead and purchased his coffin.

Daily Nation reports that despite the fact that such actions were considered a bad omen in his community, Shikuku never gave a damn.

He believed he needed comfort even in death and he had to prepare for the same to avoid any embarrassment during his funeral.

When he died, it became evident that the family was ready to honour his death wish and buried him in the grave he had dug eight years ago.

The family also agreed to use the coffin he had purchased. In his death wish, he also asked four bulls to be slaughtered. He mentioned retired President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga to grace his burial.

He also said that he never wanted politics during his burial. As friends and relatives turned up at the Lee Funeral Home, his son Stephen broke the news that the father would be buried in accordance with his will after he died at Texas Cancer Centre, Nairobi.

The deceased left behind 16 children. He was the former Member of Parliament for Butere where he served until 1997 before he lost to Dr Amukowa Anangwe.
